— on writing style

Some of you might be wondering about my writing style, how I developed it, that sort of thing.  Certainly, there are those who have been influenced by high school teachers, college professors, comic books, and the like.  I’m not one of them.  I’m old school.  In my case, old school means appreciating music produced before I was born.

Let’s just put it this way: anyone who bothers to listen to Tina Turner soulfully proclaim, “We nevuh evuh do nothin’ nice and easy” from her superior rendition of “Proud Mary,” would make her their writing instructor too (well, in absentia).

And by the way, Ike Turner was a scum bag.  There’s a special place in hell for men who beat up women.
